Knowing how a sound works...
isn’t the same as being able to use it

You may already know quite a lot about English pronunciation.
Perhaps you’ve studied the IPA, watched videos about mouth positions or repeated difficult words after a teacher.

When you concentrate, you might even produce the sound correctly. But then you start having a real conversation...

You don’t have time to think about where your tongue should be, how wide your mouth should open or which symbol you saw in the dictionary.

Your usual speaking habits take over. Perhaps you recognise some of these problems:

  • Two similar sounds still seem almost identical when you hear them
  • You pronounce words according to their spelling
  • You can say a sound alone, but lose it inside a complete sentence
  • You practise one day, then don’t return to it for another three weeks
  • Someone asks you to repeat yourself, so you say the same word again... only louder

After a while, it’s easy to assume that you’re simply “bad at pronunciation” or that your whole accent needs fixing.

But pronunciation isn’t something you learn once and then automatically use. It’s a physical and listening skill.

Understanding the explanation can help, but your ears and mouth still need regular, focused practice before a new sound begins to feel natural.

The missing piece usually isn’t another collection of pronunciation tips. It’s having a clear routine that shows you exactly what to practise and guides you through actually doing it.

A better way to practise your pronunciation

Most pronunciation lessons explain a sound and give you a few words to repeat.
That can help you understand what to do, but the practice often stops before you can use the sound confidently by yourself.

The Daily Pronunciation Workout is built around doing things differently.

Each day, we’ll focus on two English sounds that learners commonly find difficult to distinguish. I’ll then guide you through a complete pronunciation workout:

1. Understanding

First, you’ll hear the two sounds clearly and learn what makes them different.

2. Listening

You’ll test your ears by listening to similar words and deciding which one you hear.

3. Production

I’ll show you how to make each sound, plus what to do with your mouth, tongue & voice.

4. Practise

You’ll repeat the sounds in both words and sentences, with time to speak after me.

5. Shadowing

You’ll listen to and copy a short passage, helping you use connected speech.

6. Recording

Finally, you’ll read the passage and make your own recording without copying me.

By the final step, you’re no longer simply watching a teacher or repeating an isolated sound. You’re using what you’ve practised in complete spoken English.

You don’t need to plan your exercises, search for examples or decide what to practise next. Just press play, follow the workout and speak when prompted.

What can 28 days of focused pronunciation practice give you?

The goal isn’t to wake up after 28 days with a completely different accent or perfect pronunciation. It’s to develop better awareness, more control and a practical way to improve the sounds that cause you difficulty.

By following the daily workouts, you’ll practise how to:

  • Hear the difference between similar English sounds more clearly

  • Recognise which sound you’re hearing before trying to produce it

  • Understand how different sounds should feel inside your mouth

  • Move beyond spelling and pay closer attention to spoken English

  • Produce target sounds in words and complete sentences

  • Keep those sounds clearer when words are connected together

  • Listen back to your own speech and notice what needs more practice

  • Follow a consistent pronunciation routine without planning it yourself

You won’t have to wait until Day 28 to start using what you learn. Every workout takes you from your first listening exercise to an independent spoken recording on the same day.

Imagine hearing two words that previously sounded identical and beginning to notice the difference.

Or listening to your own recording and knowing what you want to adjust, instead of simply thinking “My pronunciation sounds wrong.”

You may still have your own recognisable accent. That isn’t something you need to erase.

The difference is that you’ll have more awareness of how English sounds work, more control over the way you produce them and a repeatable method you can continue using after the programme ends.

What’s inside the Daily Pronunciation Workout?

28 guided video workouts

A new workout will unlock each day.

Every session focuses on a particular pair or group of English sounds and guides you from your first listening exercise through to your final independent recording.

You won’t simply watch me explain the sounds. You’ll practise alongside me throughout the video, with time to listen, repeat and speak out loud.

Vowel and consonant sound practice

Across the programme, you’ll work through a range of English sound contrasts that learners often find difficult to hear and produce.

These include differences such as:

  • man / men

  • sheep / ship

  • tin / thin

You’ll begin by practising vowel contrasts before moving through more challenging areas of the English sound system.

Words, sentences and connected speech

You won’t practise sounds in isolation and leave them there.

Every workout moves through:

  • Individual sounds

  • Useful English words

  • Natural example sentences

  • A short connected passage

  • Your own independent recording

This helps you explore what happens to the target sounds when you use them inside real spoken English.

A bonus workout on the schwa

You’ll also receive a separate teaching workout about the schwa: the weak /ə/ sound that appears throughout spoken English.

You’ll learn why it matters, where you’re likely to hear it and how it helps English words and sentences sound more natural.

One clear routine to follow

Everything is organised inside your BritSpeak account and released in a simple daily sequence.

There’s no need to search for exercises, choose your next sound or build your own study plan.

Open the day’s workout, press play and follow along.

Please note: This is a guided self-study programme. It does not include personal recording feedback, live lessons or private pronunciation coaching. These are sold separately.

Your results won’t come from watching passively

The programme gives you the explanations, examples and guided exercises, but you still need to speak out loud, complete the recordings and practise consistently.

You may not completely transform your pronunciation in 28 days. However, you can develop better awareness of difficult English sounds, gain more control over how you produce them and leave with a repeatable method for continuing to improve.
