Ey up mate! I'm Dan - British English Communication Coach

Think of me like your personal language guide. I'm here to help you understand your dreams and show you how to use your English to make them a reality.

Using my background as a CELTA qualified ESL teacher and my experience of living in a new country that doesn't speak my language, I understand how hard it can be and I know what steps need to be taken to help you get over the language barrier to your new life.

It is possible to stop worrying about your English and just start using it as a tool to do more cool stuff in your life without spending hours doing reviews on some learning app.

I'm on a mission to help you actually feel good about using your English.

Because you deserve to enjoy your daily life in the UK, build meaningful relationships with the people around you, and excel in your professional career without worrying if your English is good enough.

We'll get on well if you also believe...

Language is just a tool to be used.

I don't know about you, but for me I don't want to learn a language for the sake of it. I want to use the language to make my life better and connect with new people.

You don't need to learn everything to be "fluent"

If your goal is to communicate with new people, you don't need to know academic vocabulary, right? More English doesn't mean you are more fluent.

It's OK to not be perfect when speaking in English

The goal is not to be perfect when communicating, or at least it shouldn't be - the goal is to be understood and to communicate with people. It is a conversation, not an exam.

I Never Wanted To Learn Japanese...

Back in 2016, bored of my office job, I decided to take a gamble and completely change paths. I went back to school, I became an English teacher, and landed a job in Japan. There was one problem though...

It turns out that living on your own, in a totally different culture, that doesn't speak your language is bloody difficult.

(surprise, surprise, eh?)

The language barrier was REAL. It was so hard just to do the basics like going to the supermarket, or getting a SIM for my phone. Making friends seemed absolutely out of the question. It got so bad I nearly sacked it off and went home more than once.

After a doctors appointment, where I didn't understand what the doctor was saying - which lead to a camera being "introduced" to my backside unexpectedly - I decided enough was enough and I started teaching myself Japanese.

It also turns out that learning a language is proper solid. I bought a bunch of useless textbooks and online courses. I joined conversation classes and used all the apps. Most of this stuff didn't really work for me.

After years of trying, failing, and trying again, I have got to the point where I can communicate in most daily life situations without getting stuck or feeling like I am being judged. I learned a lot along that journey.

That is when I decided to take that experience and combine it with my teaching background to help people like you build their language and communication skills so they can actually enjoy their lives and stop feeling like they are not good enough.

For the past 7 months, we've done an amazing job together and each of our lessons were informative and useful, and the most important for me, with lots of speaking practice. I feel way more confident and proud now than ever before.

Think we are a good match?

I'd love to work with you and help you start using English as a tool to do more cool stuff in your life. There are lots of different ways I can help you depending on where you are on your language learning journey.
